آلما یه ربات خودآموز و خیلی پیشرفته‌ست که حتی توانایی جنگی هم داره. اون توسط دو نابغه هوش مصنوعی و رباتیک، اِنجی کامیساتو و سوزومه یوبانه توسعه پیدا کرده. این دوتا بعد از اینکه از طرف همکارای قدیمیشون دست انداخته شدن، تصمیم گرفتن با همکاری هم، به دنیا نشون بدن واقعاً چه استعدادی دارن. البته توی کار خیلی خوب با هم کنار میان، ولی توی زندگی شخصی اصلاً نمی‌تونن با هم بسازن! با این حال، وسط همه‌ی کل‌کل‌ها و بحث‌هاشون، کم‌کم یه جرقه‌ی علاقه بین اِنجی و سوزومه شکل می‌گیره ــ چیزی که از چشم آلما، این ربات بامزه، دور نمی‌مونه. آلما کنجکاو می‌شه و شروع می‌کنه به سؤال پرسیدن درباره‌ی رابطه‌ی واقعی خالق‌هاش. هرچی بیشتر از آدم‌ها و احساسات یاد می‌گیره، پیوندش با اِنجی و سوزومه هم عمیق‌تر می‌شه.

Alma, an autonomous self-learning robot with advanced combat capabilities, was created by two genius scientists, Enji Kamisato and Suzume Yobane, who developed Alma's artificial intelligence and robotics, respectively. After being mocked by their former acquaintances, the duo have worked together in order to show the world their true talents. But even though they cooperate in their work, the two scientists cannot seem to get along in their personal lives.
